Softball Game Preview: Arbor View Aggies vs. Basic Wolves

The Arbor View Aggies will head out on the road to challenge the Basic Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Arbor View has eight straight wins, Basic has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Arbor View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Green Valley, who was ranked 12th at the time (Arbor View was ranked fourth). The Aggies walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Gators on Tuesday.

Ava Henderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arbor View's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Melton, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Malaya Tellis, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Basic lost 11-1 to Doral Academy Red Rock on Tuesday.

Arbor View's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Basic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Arbor View got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Basic by a conclusive 15-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aggies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
