Southeast Career Tech has gone a perfect 8-0 against Western recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Roadrunners will face off against the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Southeast Career Tech is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Doral Academy Red Rock as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Roadrunners in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won seven in a row.
Tiernon Wolf was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Jaggers, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Western, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Eldorado 12-2 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Edgar Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Garcia was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Western is undefeated when Garcia posts three or more hits, but 10-12 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Saul Benitez Tapia, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Edwin Moreno was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Western kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Southeast Career Tech's victory bumped their record up to 22-10. As for Western, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Southeast Career Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. However, it's not like Western struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Southeast Career Tech's way against Western in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Southeast Career Tech made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roadrunners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
