Basketball Recap: St. George's Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. George can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Harding Academy Lions and fell 62-21. The Gryphons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-12.

Harding Academy found their leader in sophomore Bella Rose Austin, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Austin also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 88%. Emory Miller was another key player, going 7-for-11 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

St. George's has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 16 of their last 18 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-22 record this season. As for Harding Academy, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-5.

St. George's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harding Academy, they will square off against Jackson Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
