Basketball Recap: Laurel Makes It Four in a Row at Home

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Laurel Golden Tornadoes beat the Raymond Rangers 37-32. The win was all the more spectacular given the Golden Tornadoes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Rangers are ranked 29th).

Laurel pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Raymond, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-6 record.

Laurel will face off against East Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Raymond, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
