Preview: Jamestown vs. New Kent
New Kent will challenge Jamestown on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. New Kent don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
We expected New Kent to have trouble with the significantly higher ranked Poquoson last Friday, and they did. New Kent found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-27 punch to the gut against Poquoson. New Kent were down by 0-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, their game last Tuesday wasn't at all kind to Jamestown, but their most recent contest may have softened the blow. They came out on top against Grafton by a score of 21-13. The Jamestown offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Jamestown's victory lifted them to 1-2 while New Kent's loss dropped them down to 1-2. We'll find out if Jamestown can add another positive mark to their record or if New Kent can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Jamestown's step.
