Baseball Recap: Mountain View Christian Takes a Loss

Mountain View Christian extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They came up short against the Beaver Dam Diamondback, falling 16-1. The Saints were not able to make up for their loss to the Diamondback from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

As for Beaver Dam, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-14 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.

For Beaver Dam's part, Manuel Castillo made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Castillo a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Beaver Dam let Daniel Alonso-Ceja and Miguel Jauregui run wild. Alonso-Ceja went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Jauregui got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Beaver Dam is 3-1 when Alonso-Ceja posts two or more runs, but 0-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ruger Holcomb, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Beaver Dam beat Mountain View Christian by a score of 20-4 later that day.
