Basketball Recap: Micah Stone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heartland over Clinton Christian Academy

Heartland lost against Clinton Christian Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Heartland Mustangs took a hard 57-42 fall against the Clinton Christian Academy Patriots. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 11-7 in the first quarter.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Micah Stone, who posted 18 points and six boards. That was a full 42.9% of Heartland's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Stone, who put up 14 points and three blocks.

Clinton Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Raymond Hood, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 17 rebounds. With that strong performance, Hood is now averaging an impressive 16.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Lowe, who posted five points and three steals.

Heartland dropped their record down to 7-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Clinton Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bethel Academy the next time they take the court. Clinton Christian Academy will host Bethel Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Heartland will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
