Softball Game Preview: Cambridge Bobcats vs. Meadowbrook Colts

Cambridge hasn't had much luck against Meadowbrook recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bobcats will welcome the Colts at 12:00 p.m.

Last Wednesday, Cambridge came up short against Bellaire and fell 8-5. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bailey Kenworthy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got no hits from her three at bats. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda Cole, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Meadowbrook made easy work of Edison on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Addy Sichina made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Sichina was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Meadowbrook let Alexx Combs and Sommer Ginn run wild. Combs got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while Ginn scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Addy Wiggins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI.

Meadowbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.

Cambridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Meadowbrook, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Cambridge might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Meadowbrook in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
