Volleyball Game Preview: New Trier Trevians vs. Deerfield Warriors

The New Trier Trevians will take on the Deerfield Warriors at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in New Trier's favor as the team sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Deerfield has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

New Trier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Libertyville, who was ranked sixth at the time (New Trier was ranked 17th). The Trevians came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The game was the first time the Trevians have beaten the Wildcats on their court since May 19, 2022.

Meanwhile, Deerfield didn't have quite enough to beat Mundelein on Saturday and fell 2-1.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Deerfield sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 20-25, 25-19.

Deerfield's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for New Trier, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

New Trier was able to grind out a solid win over Deerfield in their previous meeting back in April, winning 2-0. Will the Trevians repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
