Game recap: Mount Carmel High School Football Team tops Simeon

CHICAGO, Ill. - Mount Carmel (Chicago, Ill.) snapped Simeon (Chicago, Ill.)'s 8-game winning streak, with a 41-6 victory on Saturday.

The Caravan were up 41-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Don Butkus in the first quarter.

A 21-point first quarter helped Mount Carmel secure the big victory. MC scored on three rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including one by Matt Domer.

Darnell Cockrell made a difference for the Wolverines. The junior ran for one touchdown.

The Caravan's standout player in the win was Butkus. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.

Simeon's lone touchdown came on a 16-yard run by Cockrell in the fourth quarter.



Led by Reggie Spearman, SHS came in allowing just 7.7 points per game this season. Mount Carmel came into the game allowing 7.3 points per game.

A 34-20 Mount Carmel victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The loss comes after Simeon defeated Bloom 13-10 last week.
