Football Recap: South El Monte Eagles vs. El Monte Lions
South El Monte dropped to 6-4 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They took a hard 38-21 fall against the El Monte Lions. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
As for El Monte, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games.
Leading El Monte to victory were Aaron Rivera and Alex Aleman. Rivera rushed for 161 yards while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, while Aleman threw for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
