Baseball Recap: Hiawatha Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Hiawatha posted their closest win since April 4, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past the Silver Lake Eagles 9-7. The victory was nothing new for the Red Hawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Hiawatha saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Jensen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Hiawatha's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Silver Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hiawatha will square off against rival Sabetha on the 24th. Meanwhile, Silver Lake is set to face off against their familiar foe Jefferson West on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.6, the Tigers 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
