Softball Game Preview: Plainfield North Tigers vs. Benet Academy Redwings

The Plainfield North Tigers will head out to take on the Benet Academy Redwings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Plainfield North was able to grind out a solid win over Bolingbrook, taking the game 6-3. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Benet Academy hadn't done well against Providence Catholic recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Redwings came out on top against the Celtics by a score of 8-4.

Sophia Rosner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Gianna Cunningham was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Baer, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Benet Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Plainfield North, their record now sits at 11-16.
