Basketball Recap: STEM School Highlands Ranch Spartans vs. Denver Academy Mustangs
STEM School Highlands Ranch took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (barely). They slipped by the Denver Academy Mustangs 36-35.
STEM School Highlands Ranch had a senior duo take command as Avi Thakkar scored 14 points along with eight steals and Braden Calme posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and two steals. Calme is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Matt Moore was another key player, earning three points along with five steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chris Janssen, who had eight points plus ten rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luc Stanley, who earned 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
STEM School Highlands Ranch will take on Liberty Tree Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Denver Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against KIPP Denver Collegiate at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
