Softball Game Preview: Fairview Panthers vs. Anacoco Indians

Fairview is 0-6 against Anacoco since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. Fairview will square off against Anacoco at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Fairview took on Glenmora on Saturday. Fairview had just enough and edged out Glenmora 5-3.

Meanwhile, Anacoco had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-5.

Tori Haymon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Davis, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Emilee D'Amico was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Anacoco pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Fairview, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Fairview suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Anacoco in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Fairview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
