Basketball Game Preview: Mount Olive Pirates vs. Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs

Mount Olive and Mississippi School for the Deaf are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Mount Olive Pirates just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 14 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Mount Olive and four for Mississippi School for the Deaf.

Mount Olive came up short against Crystal Springs on Monday, falling 47-23.

Meanwhile, Mississippi School for the Deaf played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Taylorsville and fell 53-21. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Tartars are ranked 175th).

Mount Olive will need focus on slowing down DeSiare Ingram, one of several Mississippi School for the Deaf players who made an impact when they last played. She posted six points.

Mississippi School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Mount Olive, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Mount Olive strolled past Mississippi School for the Deaf in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 43-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount Olive since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
