Basketball Recap: Wartburg Central Bulldogs vs. Monterey Wildcats
Wartburg Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They secured a 56-51 W over the Monterey Wildcats. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grayson Phillips, who earned 12 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Tanner Brown, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Wartburg Central will square off against Cumberland Gap at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monterey, they will take on Trousdale County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Monterey is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
