Baseball Recap: Woodland Hills Victorious

Woodland Hills hadn't done well against Penn Hills recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wolverines came out on top against the Indians by a score of 7-2. The Wolverines have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

Joe Young was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Woodland Hills' success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Young was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Marcello Fagnelli was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Woodland Hills is undefeated when Fagnelli posts two or more runs, but 1-12 otherwise. Brayden Lindsey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Woodland Hills and bumps their season record up to 6-12. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Penn Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Woodland Hills will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
