Basketball Game Preview: Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks vs. Covenant Christian

The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks will take on Covenant Christian in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Port St. Joe will be strutting in after a victory while Covenant Christian will be coming in after a loss.

Port St. Joe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Vernon 64-15. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tiger Sharks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ellie Newman and KK McNair were among the main playmakers for Port St. Joe as the former posted 12 points and six steals and the latter went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellasyn Hensley, who had seven points.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, Covenant Christian was not quite Gulf Pointe Latin's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Gladiators by a score of 44-41. Covenant Christian has struggled against Gulf Pointe Latin recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Covenant Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Port St. Joe, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
