Baseball Recap: New Covenant Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hurley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Covenant Academy). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hurley Tigers on Wednesday, sneaking past 11-9. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Evan Meadows, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Berry, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

New Covenant Academy pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Hurley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
