Soccer Game Preview: McCollum vs. Southwest Legacy

McCollum and Southwest Legacy are an even 3-3-4 against one another since January of 2019, but likely not for long. The McCollum Cowboys will look to defend their home pitch on Friday against the Southwest Legacy Titans at 5:00 p.m. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

McCollum is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Everything went their way against Winn on Tuesday as McCollum made off with a 9-1 victory. Considering the Cowboys have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Southwest Legacy came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Mavericks a 4-0 shutout. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Titans considering their one-goal performance the game before.

They hit Winn with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Keila Ramirez Guzman (2), Yzabella Camarillo, and Naomi Higa.

McCollum has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six contests. As for Southwest Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 11-2-2.

McCollum came out on top in a nail-biter against Southwest Legacy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will McCollum repeat their success, or does Southwest Legacy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
