Softball Recap: Hatch Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Socorro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hatch Valley). Everything went their way against the Socorro Warriors on Saturday as they made off with a 31-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Alaya Martinez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yaneisy Carranza, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Bianette Rodriguez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Hatch Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Hatch Valley's record now sits at 10-14. As for Socorro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.

As of now, neither Hatch Valley nor Socorro have any future games scheduled.
