Football Recap: Indianola Academy Colonels vs. North Delta Green Wave
Indianola Academy kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by the North Delta Green Wave 43-13. The Colonels were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
North Delta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mike Pinkston, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Pinkston's longest rush was for an impressive 53 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Carlisle, who rushed for 135 yards on only 15 carries.
The win got North Delta back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indianola Academy will challenge Lee Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Delta, they will take on Benton Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
