4A Region 2 recap October 8, 2013

Ripley was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Lafayette. The Tigers came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.

Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 2 this week, Ripley beat the Commodores 38-21. The win marks seventh in a row for the Chad Cook's team.

Lafayette's dynamic duo of Devin Thomas and DK Buford proved tough for the Tigers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thomas threw for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns and Buford had 94 yards receiving. Landon Busby helped Lafayette's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 52 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Byhalia's Markiese Rodgers and Antonio Wilson have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Rodgers has thrown for 596 yards this season, while Wilson has 13 catches for 393 yards. Senatobia's Tevin Wooten leads the league in rushing yards with 517.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Eric Robertson's team takes on Rosa Fort. The Commodores are currently in fourth, while the Lions are in second.

The Warriors lost to New Albany 27-2 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wooten ran for 132 yards in the loss.
