Softball Recap: Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans vs. Wagener-Salley War Eagles
Ridge Spring-Monetta extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They came up short against the Wagener-Salley War Eagles, falling 15-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the War Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on Monday.
As for Wagener-Salley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
For Wagener-Salley's part, Kylee Hooker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Hooker has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Makenley Walling was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Craven, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridge Spring-Monetta will host Airport at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wagener-Salley, they will be playing at home against American Leadership Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
