Softball Recap: Aquinas Blugolds vs. La Crosse Central Riverhawks
Aquinas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Crosse Central Riverhawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Riverhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on Monday.
Abby Ziolkowski put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Ziolkowski wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addy Watson, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for La Crosse Central, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Looking ahead, Aquinas will head out to challenge Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Crosse Central, they will host Reedsburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
