Baseball Recap: Hoffman Estates Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fremd, Hoffman Estates was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Wheeling Wildcats. The win was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Luis Tobella was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Hoffman Estates' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 6-19 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Chucho Villegas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hoffman Estates was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hoffman Estates' victory bumped their record up to 8-20. As for Wheeling, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

Hoffman Estates will have a chance to go back-to-back against Wheeling: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
