Volleyball Recap: Elliana Benson Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Cardinal Mooney

Struthers's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 26-28, 25-21, 25-16.

Struthers got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elliana Benson out in front who had 13 digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Benson a new career-high in assists (17). Another player making a difference was Natalie Wolikow, who had 11 digs and ten assists.

The win snapped Struthers' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for Cardinal Mooney, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Struthers wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Chaney on the 27th. As for Cardinal Mooney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Crestview on the 27th.
