Basketball Game Preview: Ezekiel Academy Knights vs. Wiregrass Kings

Ezekiel Academy is 2-8 against Wiregrass since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Ezekiel Academy Knights will get right back to it and host the Wiregrass Kings at 6:30 p.m. Ezekiel Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Ezekiel Academy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Victory Christian Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Ezekiel Academy blew Victory Christian Academy out of the water with a 59-20 final score. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season.

Ezekiel Academy found their leader in sophomore Gianna Johnson, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 13 points along with seven boards and four steals. Alantis Richards was another key player, putting up nine points.

Ezekiel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wiregrass was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were dealt a 51-14 loss at the hands of Evangel Christian. The Kings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-8.

Jayda Dozier was Wiregrass' leading scorer, having posted six points. Avery Barnes held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.

Ezekiel Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Wiregrass, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Everything came up roses for Ezekiel Academy against Wiregrass in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-11 win. In that game, Ezekiel Academy amassed a halftime lead of 35-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
