Baseball Recap: Webutuck Comes Up Short

Webutuck extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the Spackenkill Spartans, falling 26-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

As for Spackenkill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2. That 26-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Spackenkill's part, Jeremy Acevedo made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Acevedo was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Spackenkill got a massive performance out of Jack Cohen, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Albie Hasbrouck, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Webutuck will be playing at home against Rhinebeck at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spackenkill, they will head out to face off against Dover at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
