Basketball Game Preview: Mooresville Pioneers vs. Center Grove Trojans

Mooresville hasn't had much luck against Center Grove recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mooresville Pioneers will square off against the Center Grove Trojans at 8:00 p.m. One thing working in Mooresville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.

Mooresville came into their game last Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 81-61 to Bedford North Lawrence.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brevon Burns, who posted 13 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Michael Irving iii was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Mooresville was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their fifth loss (out of 16 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Center Grove had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past Perry Meridian with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 50-36. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

The victory got Center Grove back to even at 11-11. As for Mooresville, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Mooresville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Center Grove in their previous meeting back in February, but they still walked away with a 73-69 win. Will Mooresville repeat their success, or does Center Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
