Softball Recap: Fenton's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fenton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Flushing Raiders get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Abby Golen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Izzy MacCaughan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Lexi Shouse was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Fenton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.

Fenton's victory bumped their record up to 9-1-1. As for Flushing, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fenton will head out to square off against Utica Eisenhower at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday. As for Flushing, they will face off against Swartz Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
