Northridge found their leader in sophomore Sophia Carbajal, who dropped a double-double with 35 points and 23 rebounds. Carbajal is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lilian Schindle, who posted three points and ten rebounds.
Northridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Canon City was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Palmer 38-8. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.
Canon City's win came from a few key players Northridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kristyn Barnes, who earned 14 points and six steals. Those six steals gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Ley, who scored seven points and ten boards.
Canon City pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points over those games. As for Northridge, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Northridge has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Canon City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
