Basketball Recap: Cary Falls Despite Big Games from Riley Garner and Kyndall Brewington

Cary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panther Creek Catamounts. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Catamounts this season, with their most recent defeat being a 48-45 loss back in January.

Despite the defeat, Cary had strong showings from Kyndall Brewington, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards, and Riley Garner, who posted 11 points. Brewington has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Panther Creek was led to victory by Lilah Penigar and Sasha Boddie. Penigar dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Boddie dropped a double-double with 16 points and 16 boards. Penigar continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abigail Bennah, who put up 12 points.

Cary's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Panther Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Cary does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Panther Creek, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 49-47 defeat against Green Level on the 18th.
