They took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cross Lanes Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), Mercer Christian Academy still had to take the loss.
Mercer Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was MJ Patton, who scored 25 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Patton scored a full 43.9% of Mercer Christian Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Chance Watkins was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with 8 rebounds.
Mercer Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Cross Lanes Christian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer Christian Academy will face off against Greater Beckley Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cross Lanes Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mount Hope Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th.
