Softball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Deer Lakes

Grace Christian Academy won against Knoxville Catholic last Tuesday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Grace Christian Academy Rams' pitchers stepped up to hand the Deer Lakes Lancers a 20-0 shutout. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.

Brooke Million tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hayden Hill and Ava Malone did most of the damage at the plate: Hill scored five runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4, while Malone got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. What's more, Malone posted three hits, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Katherine Mullins, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Grace Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deer Lakes only posted an OBP of .250.

Grace Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. Deer Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Grace Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on King's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 24th. As for Deer Lakes, they will face off against Union County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
