Basketball Recap: Cuthbertson Skates Past Sun Valley with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cuthbertson). They really took it to the Sun Valley Spartans for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-34 win. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Cuthbertson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Beals out in front who went 8 for 18 on her way to 27 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Beals is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Amayah Rogers was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.

Cuthbertson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Cuthbertson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Sun Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Cuthbertson and Sun Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Cuthbertson (ranked 373rd) will meet Porter Ridge (ranked 54th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Similarly, Sun Valley (ranked 375th) will meet Marvin Ridge (ranked 26th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st.
