Softball Game Preview: Lauralton Hall Crusaders vs. New Milford Green Wave

The Lauralton Hall Crusaders will challenge the New Milford Green Wave at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lauralton Hall will be strutting in after a win while New Milford will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Lauralton Hall turned things around against Wilbur Cross on Monday. They put the hurt on the Governors with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Crusaders' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.

Kaley Hobbs made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Lexi Grund was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ciara McAleese, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

Lauralton Hall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, New Milford was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They lost 9-1 to Brookfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Green Wave have suffered since April 6, 2024.

The defeat snapped New Milford's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 15-5 record. As for Lauralton Hall, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-14.
