Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Elkins Comes Up Short

Fort Bend Elkins lost against Fort Bend Clements back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fort Bend Elkins Knights took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Bend Clements Rangers. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Rangers are ranked 83rd).

When it comes to explaining why Fort Bend Elkins lost, don't look at Joshua Lord. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Myles Allen, who posted ten points.

Fort Bend Clements' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keshav Vijaykumar led the charge by putting up 15 points and eight rebounds. Vijaykumar continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aziz Olajuwon, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards.

Fort Bend Elkins has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season. As for Fort Bend Clements, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10.

Fort Bend Elkins will host Fort Bend Hightower at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Hightower knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Fort Bend Elkins likes a good challenge. As for Fort Bend Clements, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Bend Travis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Travis will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Fort Bend Clements surely won't give up without a fight.
