Basketball Recap: Cottage Grove Comes Up Short

Cottage Grove lost against Marist back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cottage Grove Lions had to suffer through a 75-46 loss at the hands of the Marist Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Spartans are ranked 30th).

Cottage Grove has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Marist, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Coincidentally, Cottage Grove and Marist will both be playing Marshfield the next time they take the court. Cottage Grove will host Marshfield at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Marist will host them at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
