Baseball Game Preview: Channel Islands Raiders vs. Pacifica Tritons

Channel Islands is 0-10 against Pacifica since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Tritons at 3:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Channel Islands is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 7-1 to Grace.

Channel Islands saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Marin, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Pacifica's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Barbara on Friday. The Tritons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pacifica also got a good showing from Alex Villicana, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Channel Islands' loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Pacifica, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Channel Islands' speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Pacifica, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Channel Islands continue to outrun the ball?

Channel Islands couldn't quite get it done against Pacifica in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
