Bishop Ludden had won three straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 5-1 to make it four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Skaneateles Lakers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Skaneateles' part, Hugh Carroll was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Carroll has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Carroll wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sean Olley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Nathan Latreille also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Looking ahead, Bishop Ludden will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Solvay at 4:30 p.m. As for Skaneateles, they will challenge Marcellus at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lakers are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
