Softball Recap: Upper Darby Takes a Loss

Upper Darby fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lower Merion on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Aces by a score of 4-3. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aces apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

Sarah Gentile spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

Upper Darby is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for Lower Merion, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.

Coming up, Upper Darby will venture away from home to face off against Conestoga at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Conestoga will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Upper Darby surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lower Merion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Garnet Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
