Basketball Recap: Evan Levy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Thomas Catholic over Friendswood

St. Thomas Catholic's tournament run continued when they took on Friendswood on Friday. The St. Thomas Catholic Eagles took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Friendswood Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Mustangs are ranked 34th).

St. Thomas Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Levy, who posted 16 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Levy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Kimble, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

St. Thomas Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Friendswood, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

St. Thomas Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-46 victory against Needville on the 7th. As for Friendswood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-56 win against Pasadena Memorial on the 7th.
