Softball Recap: Bend Comes Up Short

Bend came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the North Medford Black Tornado by a score of 9-7 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Tornado this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 on Saturday.

MacKenzie Shaughnessy and Taylor Aldrich did some serious damage despite the final result: Shaughnessy went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Aldrich went 2-for-4 with one home run. Cassidy Sandgren was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Bend has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for North Medford, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Bend wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-10 victory against West Albany on the 7th. As for North Medford, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-3 win against Roseburg on the 8th.
