Basketball Game Preview: Jersey Panthers vs. Granite City Warriors

The Jersey Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Granite City Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Jersey came up into this matchup off a tough 21-point defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Jacksonville by a score of 59-56 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since February 6, 2024.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaxon Brunaugh, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. John Paul Vogel was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Granite City unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 67-42 to Cahokia.

Granite City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Jersey, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Jersey came up short against Granite City in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 62-50. Can Jersey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
