Taft has gone a perfect 9-0 against Jones recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Taft will look to defend their home field against Jones at 10:00 a.m. The timing is sure in Taft's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Jones has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
On Friday, Taft made easy work of Steinmetz College Prep and carried off an 18-2 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Michaela Power made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Eccarius, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Victoria Perez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Taft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Jones sidestepped Kennedy for a 5-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won four in a row.
Meghan Pierce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks.
On the hitting side, Delaney Treccia was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Julissa Galvaz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Jones' win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5.
Jones' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Taft has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. It's a different story for Jones, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Taft's hitters?
Everything went Taft's way against Jones in their previous matchup back in March, as Taft made off with a 16-6 win. Does Taft have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jones turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
