Basketball Recap: Trey Keating's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nativity BVM over Central Mountain

On Friday, the Nativity BVM Green Wave didn't have quite enough to beat the Central Mountain Wildcats and fell 84-81. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (60), the Green Wave still had to take the loss.

Nativity BVM's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Keating, who dropped a double-double with 33 points and 12 boards. The game was Keating's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Layne Pasker was another key player, dropping a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds.

Hunter Hoy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central Mountain, dropping a double-double with 27 points and ten boards. Hoy is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 23 or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Max Verrelli, who went 8-for-16 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Nativity BVM's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Central Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Nativity BVM didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-51 loss against Minersville on the 12th. As for Central Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-62 defeat against Williamsport on the 11th.
