Basketball Game Preview: Cooper Bulldogs vs. Cumby Trojans

Two dominant guards in Jequan Brown and Chett Vaughan are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cooper Bulldogs will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Cumby Trojans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Cumby is hoping to do what Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Cooper's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Cooper blew past Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy 77-29. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Meanwhile, Cumby hadn't done well against Boles recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cumby took their game with ease, bagging an 80-53 victory over Boles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Trojans have posted since December 14, 2024.

Cooper better keep an eye on Vaughan. He was instrumental in Cumby's win, going 16 for 26 on his way to 43 points and five rebounds. The contest was Vaughan's 24th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayton Vaughan, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points.

Cooper pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Cumby, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11.
