Volleyball Game Preview: Central Eagles vs. Lafayette Fighting Irish

Central hasn't had much luck against Lafayette recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Central took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They skirted past Cristo Rey Kansas City 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 1, 2025.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (104-98) Central actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 27-25, 12-25, 19-25, 15-12.

Meanwhile, Lafayette hadn't done well against East recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over East.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-18.

Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-12-1. As for Lafayette, their win bumped their record up to 6-11-1.
